Abstract
Complex hydrotrispyrazolilboratoiridium(I)dicarbonyl, HB(Pz) 3 Ir(CO) 2 in which Pz = pyrazolyl, has been proved to be an efficient C-H bond activator of saturated hydrocarbon. This study reports a new method in synthesizing this complex. The new method involves reaction of acetylacetonatodicarbonyl iridium(I), Ir(acac)(CO) 2 , in which acac = acetylacetonate ligand , and potassium hydrotrispyrazolylborate, K[HB(Pz) 3 ], in toluene at room temperature and 1 atm of N 2 atmosphere. The yield (88%) is better compare to the previously reported method, and this is, in turn, because the use of more simple and convenience technique and also the requirement of easier reaction conditions.
