Abstract

the percentage of drug abuse in Bima muncipality is getting increase in the last five years. The increase of drug abuse in Bima municipality causes this area to be considered as one of the areas with highly drug emergency status. Poorly, the increase in drug used and abused commonly occurs among teenagers and children. This study aims to determine patterns of drug and substance abuse and their manifestations of teenager behavior in Bima municipality. The method used this study was a descriptive study that conducted by survey method in 7senior high schools in Bima municipality. Respondents in the study were students who had a history of drug and / or substance abuse and had been decided as many as 69 respondents. Data about history of substance abuse was obtained retrospectively through an interview process by using the 6 question technique. Data about behavior was obtained through the development of questionnaires and observations by teachers at school. Data analysis used descriptive statistics. The results show the type of drugs that are often used are non-narcotic analgesic drugs (82.6%) that mixed with energy drinks, the majority is obtained from peers (94%), starting since early teenager (65%). Drug abuse is usually done together at a hangout place (67%). The reasons of teenagers involved in drug abuse (substance) are curiosity and trial and error (63.8%). Manifestations of drug abuse on teenagers behavior cause disruption of sleep patterns (94%), decreased concentration of learning (85.8) and truancy habits (87%). Drug and substance abuse patterns mostly begin in junior high school, peer relationships and the environment are the dominant risk factors. Sleeping disorder, truant behavior and difficulty concentrating in learning are manifestations of drug abuse behavior (substance) by teenagers.
