Abstract
Barium M-Hexaferrite material has been made doped with Mn ions with the formula BaFe 12-x Mn x O 19 , where the doping ion variation used is (x = 0, 0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 mg). The method used in this study is a solid state reaction. The process of preparation of raw materials begins by reducing the size and mixing of Barium Chloride (BaCl), Hematite (Fe 2 O 3 ), and Manganese Oxide (MnO 2 ) by grinding using hand mortar. Then the ingredients were calcined using a kiln at 700 o C for 3 hours. Furthermore, the material was characterized to determine the ability to absorb infrared waves using FTIR. From the spectrum it can be seen that the absorbance of x = 0 is 3.25 a.u, x = 0.1 is 3.4 a.u, x = 0.5 is 3.25 a.u, and x = 1.0 is 3.3 a.u. The effect of doping Mn ions tends to have better absorption. The optimum absorbance value is 3.4 at x = 0.1 mg.
