Abstract

This study aims to describe the form and the meaning of onomatopoeia in the Dilaek Ngeno-Ngene Sasak language in Wanasaba District, East Lombok Regency. Data collection methods used in this study are introspection methods, interview methods with recording techniques, collaboration with informants, and note-taking techniques. After the data were obtained, then they were analyzed using several methods, (1) the intralingual matching method with the advanced technique of differential appeal distinguishes, (2) extralingual matching methods with advanced techniques that adjust to the needs of analysis, namely techniques, sound transliteration techniques, (3) distributional methods with the smallest elemental breakdown technique, substitution or substitution. The result of this study is that there are two forms of onomatopoeia, namely onomatopoeia of the basic form and onomatopoeic derivative form. The basic form of onomatopoeia has a form category namely monosilabel, bisilabel and multisilabel. While the onomatopoeic derivative form of sound formed by morphological processes in the form of affixation and reduplication, there is an onomatopoeic meaning in each onomatopoeic form due to the morphological processes that make the word.
