Abstract

This paper presents the effect of transformer models on the result of power flow studies. The transformer models are Ynyn, Yy, Ynd, Yd, Dyn, and Dd. Each of them is shown as a 6×6 node admittance matrix. The power flow method used for analysis is the backward/forward sweep method. Using 15-bus Kumamoto distribution system, simulation results show that Ynyn, Yy, and Dd transformer connections produce a small voltage angle shift between the primary and secondary sides of the transformer in a clockwise direction for the same phase. Ynd and Yd connection produces a voltage angle shift 30 0 clockwise, while Dyn connection causes 30 0 angular shift counter clockwise. The power loss that occurred in Ynd, Yy, Yd, and Dd transformer connection is smaller than the power lost in Ynyn and Dyn transformer connection. backward-forward sweep; distribution system; three phase power flow study; effect of transformer models
