Abstract

<em>The aims of this study are to investigate the influence of storage container, length of storage, and interaction between the storage container and the length of storage on seed viability and the growth of mahogany seedlings. The method used in this study was the experimental method using random sampling factorial, in which storage container as the first factor, and length of storage as the second factor. Parameters that were observed in this study were the percentage of water content, germination progress, growth percentage, plant height, plant weight, stem diameter, and the number of leaves. Data analysis used is the analysis of variance with a confidence level of 95%. The result shows that storage container did not give significant influence on viability and the growth of mahogany. In contrast, length of storage which included growth progress, number of leaves and the weight of plant has a significant influence on viability and the growth of mahogany. A further test was done on significant result using Duncan’s Test. B1 (2 weeks of length storage) shows significant growth when compared to other treatments. While combination treatment between the storage container and the length of storage did not show any interaction.</em>
