Abstract
The study was conducted in qualitative descriptive perspective.It attempts to identify and determine learning experiences, attitudes, perceptions, preferences and pedagogical expectations that the students have when involving in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.Participants were thirty 4th-semester students at the English Education Department of the University of Mataram.The data were collected by using questionnaires and interviews.The result shows the experiences that students obtained in online learning during this pandemic led students to have positive attitudes and perceptions toward online learning.The students are also able to provide information on their preferences for various methods of online learning, the students' preferences both synchronous and asynchronous learning perceived was fine.For the course material template, they preferred modular one.While, they preferred writing paper as the final requirement.They also put high expectations on the institution, lecturers, and themselves in order to obtain effective online learning.The expectation includes how the lecturers need to be clear in every instruction, objective, and material and how the institutions provide them with any facilities which can support the learning process including having stable internet.
