Abstract
This study evaluated the production performance of Joper chickens fed commercial feed and free choice of commercial feed, ground corn and rice bran from 3 to 7 weeks of age. A total of 120 1-day-old Joper chicks were reared for three weeks at an environmental temperature of around 24 ± 1°C. From day 21, chicks were divided into four different feeding systems based on a completely randomized design. Treatment R1, chickens were imposed commercial feed -511; R2: commercial ration -BR1; R3: feed choice 511, ground corn and rice bran, and R4: choice BR1, ground corn, and rice bran. Each treatment received three repetitions. Production performance was measured by feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion and final body weight. The results of the study showed that production performance was influenced by the feeding system (p<0.05). The free-choice feeding system produced more efficient feed conversion 2.87 and 2.85 at R3 and R4, respectively, with a final body weight almost the same as two complete commercial feeds (p>0.05).
