Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding rice bran in commercial feed on the growth of Joper chickens. The study used a completely randomized design in a unidirectional pattern using 200 DOC (day-old chick) un-sexed Joper chickens. The chicks were divided into four treatment groups, and each treatment group was repeated five times so that each replicate used five chicks. Each group of chicks from each replication was maintained for two months in a 120 x 45 cm littered cage with feed and drinking water ad libitum. The first treatment was a group of chickens fed with commercial broiler feed brand SB 11 produced by PT Charoen Pokphand. The second, third, and fourth treatments were each given commercial feed with 15%, 30%, and 45% rice bran added. The observed variables were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, and feed price changes. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance and Duncan New Multiple Range tests at the significance level of 0.05. It was found that the addition of 30% rice bran in commercial feed for Joper chickens resulted in the same growth as the use of 100% commercial feed.
