Abstract
Study on thermoelectric generator utilizing the waste heat from a traditional stove was conducted. This was due to villagers. People who live in remote villages could not have electrical power yet. The purpose of this study was to know the possibility of thermoelectric generators to produce electrical power. Three thermoelectric generators were used. The type of the thermoelectric generator was SP1848-27145 SA. The variations investigated were series and parallel with and without load. The load employed was a thermoelectric cooler type TEC12706. The results showed that in testing without thermoelectric generators, the heat loss to the environment was 2037 W, while that using a thermoelectric generator, the heat loss was 1937 W in series or 2025 W in parallel. However, the electricity yield from thermoelectric generators was still very low, namely 1.73 V, 0.132 A, or 0.23 W in a parallel arrangement, and 2.24 V, 0.134 A, or 0.3 W in a series arrangement. The low electricity produced was due to imperfect installation, the low temperature used, and thermoelectric generator performance. For the reason, further research needs to be done with better thermoelectric types
