Abstract
This study examines the impact of language anxiety on the Arabic language skills of students in the Arabic Language Education Programme at UIN Mataram, with a specific focus on its effect on students' proficiency levels in speaking Arabic. The research involved a total population of 120 students from the 5th semester of the Arabic Language Education Study Programme, Academic Year 2023/2024, distributed across four classes. A sample of 89 students was selected for this study. Analysis of the relationship between speaking skills and language anxiety variables yielded a significance value of 0.373 (p > 0.05), indicating a linear relationship. A correlation was identified between speaking skills and speaking anxiety. However, the results also reveal no significant differences in the factors influencing speaking skills among the 5th-semester students in the Arabic Language Education Programme at UIN Mataram. These findings highlight the complex interplay between anxiety and language proficiency, offering insights into improving Arabic language learning outcomes.
