Abstract

Based on observations of the gap between the concept of sustainable empowerment and the suboptimal program implementation in the field, this study aims to determine the zakat distribution model for community empowerment and the impact on community income through the economic pillar program at the Baitul Maal PLN Foundation, NTB Regional Main Unit. This study used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The primary data sources in this study were the leadership of YBM PLN UIW NTB, the Secretary, the local village head, village facilitators, and program beneficiaries. The results of this study indicate that the zakat distribution model in the economic pillar program at the Baitul Maal PLN Foundation, NTB Regional Main Unit, is conducted through group surveys of residents' homes, whose names have been identified by the regional head, and then zakat funds are released and distributed. Furthermore, creative productive distribution is carried out by channeling zakat funds in the form of capital and training. Traditional productive distribution is distributed in the form of productive goods. There are economic and social impacts resulting from the distribution of zakat by YBM PLN, namely reduced poverty through empowerment and job training by creating new jobs for the community, thereby increasing community income periodically from the sale of products launched by YBM PLN and the surrounding community, as well as the formation of MSME groups. Meanwhile, the social impact is increasing the existence of mutual cooperation activities in Cahaya Rangsot Village.
