Abstract

Productivity of Ettawa Crossbreed Dairy Goats (PE) at The Farmers Group (KTT) In East Lombok (Case Study of Body Condition Score and Grade) Abstract This study aims to evaluate the productivity of Peranakan Ettawa (PE) goats in East Lombok Regency, focusing on the Body Condition Score (BCS) and Grade of goats at the farmer group (Kelompok Tani Ternak, KTT) level. The study used a survey method, with sample villages selected based on the presence of PE goat farmer groups. Respondents consisted of 60 farmers chosen by census from three subdistricts in East Lombok. The variables observed include BCS and Grade of PE goats in the age groups of 0.8–12 months, >12–18 months, and >18–24 months. The collected data were analyzed using Arithmetic Mean and Standard Deviation with MS Excel 2007 and discussed descriptively. The results showed that there were 6 target KTTs with a total population of 258 PE goats, consisting of 110 male and 148 female goats, with an average of 4.3 goats per farmer. For male goats, BCS 2.0 was found in 43.1% of goats aged 0.8–12 months, 52.0% at >12–18 months, and 59.3% at >18–24 months. BCS 3.0 was found in 56.9% of goats aged 0.8–12 months, 48.0% at >12–18 months, and 40.7% at >18–24 months. For Grade, 84.5% of male goats aged 0.8–12 months achieved Grade B, with only 37% reaching Grade B at >18–24 months. For female goats, BCS 2.0 was found in 55.0% of goats aged 0.8–12 months and 54.5% at >18–24 months, while BCS 3.0 was found in 45.0% of goats aged 0.8–12 months and 72.7% at >12–18 months. Grade C dominated in female goats aged >12–18 months and >18–24 months. No goats with BCS 4.0 or 5.0 or Grade A were found, which is likely due to genetic decline and a lack of attention to the quality and quantity of feed, especially supplemental feed.
