Abstract
The phenomenon of child labor is still widespread in the agricultural sector, particularly in tobacco plantations, which often involve children in their production activities. This situation is a cause for concern because it can impact children’s education, health, and social development. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the factors influencing child labor in tobacco plantations in East Lombok Regency. This study utilized primary data collected through the distribution of questionnaires to respondents. The research method employed a quantitative approach with a causal-associative design. Data analysis was conducted using binary logistic regression. The sampling technique used snowball sampling with a sample size of 100 children. The results of the study indicate that 83% of the 100 children studied working in tobacco plantations fall into the category of child labor. The children’s age, household size, the head of household’s marital status, and the children’s involvement in the family business influence child labor in tobacco plantations in East Lombok Regency. The government is expected to enhance oversight and design targeted intervention programs in areas vulnerable to child labor practices.
