Abstract

This study aims to analyze the principal's leadership patterns in optimizing teamwork performance in junior high schools in North Lombok Regency. The study focuses on the principal's leadership patterns, the strategies used to build teamwork, the resulting teamwork performance, and the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence teamwork effectiveness. This study uses a qualitative, multiple-case study design. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of principals, teachers, and education staff. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, and using triangulation techniques to ensure data validity. The results show that the principal's leadership patterns tend towards transformational leadership, with variations in distributive and adaptive transformational leadership. The leadership strategies implemented include open communication, motivation, participatory decision-making, and constructive conflict management. The implementation of these strategies has an impact on improving teamwork performance, characterized by effective coordination, open communication, increased trust among team members, and active participation in organizational activities. The output of these conditions is increased teamwork effectiveness in schools. Supporting factors for optimizing teamwork include a collaborative culture, human resource competency, trust among team members, and a clear and proportional division of tasks. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include limited time for discussion, lack of relevant training, high workloads, and rigid organizational systems. Therefore, this study concludes that optimizing teamwork performance is largely determined by the principal's ability to implement adaptive and distributive transformational leadership, as well as to effectively manage supporting and inhibiting factors.
