Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the vice principal's leadership in improving teacher performance and the quality of learning at SMA Negeri 5 Mataram. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The research subjects included vice principals from various fields, principals, teachers, and students. The results showed that the vice principal's leadership has both transformational and instructional characteristics, manifested through systematic managerial functions, effective communication, and participatory decision-making. The role of the vice principal in improving teacher performance is reflected in the vice principal serving as a supervisor, motivator, facilitator, and mediator through academic supervision, motivation, and continuous professional development. In addition, this leadership contributes to improving the quality of learning by strengthening the planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning, the use of varied methods, and optimizing facilities and infrastructure. Transformational leadership also encourages the creation of a culture of innovation and student-centered learning. Thus, the vice principal's leadership contributes significantly to the continuous improvement of teacher performance and the quality of learning.
